May 13 :: Program - Unleashing Creativity: How to cultivate fresh thinking, drive innovation and lead change
Speaker: Dan Greenberger from GPS Creative
This highly interactive program takes you through the creative process, providing some of the rules and tools to transform your thinking.  You'll learn how to spot and overcome the barriers to creativity so you can enable the innovation that leads to change.  We'll discuss the five forces for positive changes that every leader needs to leverage. April 15 :: "Managing the Built Environment:  the Sydney Opera House Experience"
Speakers: Stephen Ballesty, Director & Head Advisory, Rider Levett Bucknall, Sydney
The Australian FM Action Agenda is a unique government and industry collaboration with a strategic plan for "Managing the Built Environment".  In 2006, they initiated the award winning FM Exemplar Project:  Sydney Opera House. The FM Exemplar Project covered the themes of digital modeling, services procurement, performance benchmarking and it developed the case for an integrated FM solution.  This award winning research culminated in 2007 with the publication of "FM as a business enabler", "adopting BIM for facilities management" and the augmentation the Total Asset Management (TAM) planning at the Sydney Opera House.

 

March 11 :: "Recession Compression-Occupancy Management"
Speaker: Tom Houlihan, Gensler
Tom Houlihan of Gensler will focus on the issue of occupancy management during these turbulent economic times.  Tom has some unique tools that help in looking at "Recession Compression" and the options available to create and maintain an occupancy plan that responds to the ups and downs of the economy.  Find out how to avoid getting tangled up in the technology while keeping critical information in front of decision makers.  Learn how space planners and managers can participate in determining an appropriate workplace response to staff changes.

 

February 19 :: Program - Stress Management
Description: challenging times breed stress and these times are more challenging than normal. Effectively managing stress can improve your health and your career. Clinical psychotherapist and consultant, Lahab Al-Samarrai and chapter president and communications expert, Sarah Wortman will talk about what stress is, the effect it has on your physical and mental health and job performance, and how to recognize when your employees are suffering. They will also provide strategies for managing stress to minimize its negative effects on your health and performance.

February 11 :: Brainy Bites: Expanding your professional network and succeeding in this economy
Speaker: Sarah Hars and Jody Messacar
Market conditions are hard to anticipate. Where is your career going in 2009? What tools are you using to safeguard your career in this volatile economy? How do you use network socializing, Internet tools and research materials to further insulate yourself from downsizing and layoffs.

World Work Place, 2009 has come and gone ....

Another year’s World Work Place has come and gone and the Chicago Chapter of IFMA had another strong showing in the hot Orlando sun.
