Community Service > Literacy Chicago Children's Book Drive
Third Annual Literacy Chicago Book Drive
June 7-July 19, 2007
For the third consecutive year, the Community Services
committee is endorsing Literacy Chicago as the local charity to support at
IFMA's Annual Meeting on July 19. We hope you will join in on this easy book
drive for charity.
Literacy Chicago offers tuition-free programs and services
in reading, English language skills, and GED achievements. Adults who come
to Literacy Chicago raise both their educational level and their
self-sufficiency. Additionally, parents who develop sound reading and
writing skills ultimately increase their children's literacy levels and life
opportunities. The non-profit organization offers tuition-free Adult Basic
Education (ABE) for adults who are non-readers and GED preparation classes
for adults who are reading at the high school level. Professional adult
educators teach all of the ABE and GED classes. Literacy Chicago depends on
volunteer support for reading tutors, and it counts on local funding to
maintain its successful impact in the community.
For those of us in FM professions and associated vendor
professions, we all recognize the need for an educated workforce, and
literacy skills in current and future generations is fundamental to success
in the business world we embrace. Supporting Literacy Chicago gives us yet
another way to make a positive impact in the local community.
If you are interested in supporting this organization, feel

the purchaser does not have to enter any shipping information. All purchases

acknowledgement goes to IFMA CS co-chairs.
